The Ortles 2 TirolWool® Responsive Jacket is the go-to midweight insulation jacket for alpine mountaineering, ski mountaineering and ice climbing. Developed together with leading athletes and mountain guides’ organisations in the Alps, it’s designed to provide professional-standard insulation and functionality as a warm, protective mid or outer layer.It has a wind-resistant and water-repellent nylon ripstop outer at the main body. Across the shoulders and at the hem, we use 2L Powertex for increased waterproofing and durability. Inside is TirolWool® Responsive – our proprietary TirolWool® hybrid technology insulation fill – that delivers just the right mix of insulation performance and breathability. We use a 100-gram fill. TirolWool® Responsive combines the natural advantages of high lanolin content wool from Tirolean mountain sheep with cutting-edge thermo-regulating Responsive technology. The wool keeps you warm, even when it is wet, helps regulate body temperature and prevents odour build-up. Responsive is a patented mix of thermo-reactive minerals powdered and melted into a resin which is loaded into the core of recycled polyester fibres. It has the unique capacity to recycle radiant body energy into infrared light, and then convert, store and reflect it back to the body over time. This increases circulation and blood flow, maintaining long-lasting insulation performance and promoting faster recovery. Or, to put it simply, your body stays warmer for longer.The Ortles 2 TirolWool® Responsive Jacket features SALEWA® Free Motion patterning and has been redesigned with a slightly longer athletic cut to prevent hem-lift and stay put under your harness when climbing. It can be worn alone as a warm outer layer or as an insulating mid layer under an outer shell. The warm hood with draft tube has a zippered gusset so that you can reduced its volume when you are not wearing a helmet. The high collar is integrated into the hood for additional protection at the neck. The two-way front zip allows good access when belaying. Velcro-adjust cuffs at the sleeves keep wind and snow out and fit over full winter gloves, while the adjustable hem with inside-pocket regulation seals in warmth.
